Juan Tamariz è nato a Siviglia, Spagna, il 18 ottobre del 1942.
Il primo incontro con la magia per Tamariz avviene alla tenera età di 4 anni, nell'occasione di uno spettacolo di magia visto in un teatro, insieme ai genitori.
Crescendo, ha avuto la possibilità di vedere grandi illusionisti esibirsi nei migliori teatri spagnoli, tra cui artisti internazionali come David Bamberg, meglio conosciuto come Fu Manchu.
All'età di dodici anni Tamariz cominciò a studiare magia dai libri, prendendo contatti con diversi maghi conosciuti in un circolo, la "Spanish society of Illusionism" (società spagnola di illusionismo)
I mentori che affiancarono Tamariz furono molti, tra cui Arturo de Ascanio, un mago amatore molto talentuoso che progettò e creò diversi effetti magici.
Tamariz si mise alla prova anche con altre forme d'arte parallele alla magia: dalla clowneria al teatro di marionette, lavorando per un breve periodo anche in una compagnia circense.
All'età di 18 anni si iscrisse ad un'università locale frequentando un corso di regia cinematografica. Più tardi questi studi si rivelarono utili nella costruzione e direzione delle sue performances.
Ottenne anche un lavoro come ideatore e produttore pubblicitario.
Scoprì che alcune delle tecniche usate nella pubblicità sono alla base di molti effetti di magia, come la misdirection e gli aspetti psicologici legati alle percezioni.
Tuttavia, non era completamente convinto che usare queste tecniche fosse corretto per la pubblicità , e lasciò il lavoro nel 1970 per dedicarsi unicamente alla magia.
Successivamente passò un periodo di impoverimento, e non potendo permettersi grandi illusioni teatrali si dedicò all'arte del close-up .
A metà degli anni settanta fu invitato ad esibirsi a Buenos Aires, dove ebbe l'occasione di apparire in televisione.
La sua performance fu un successo, che lo portò di conseguenza ad essere ospitato in diversi programmi televisivi in Spagna e Sud America.
Nel 2006 si esibì al FISM, e insieme ad Arturo de Ascanio diresse la Scuola Magica di Madrid, una scuola che grazie alla sua filosofia e impostazione, conta tra i suoi studenti vincitori di FISM e artisti molto influenti nel panorama magico mondiale.
Inoltre Tamariz è creatore del sistema chiamato "Metodo Simbolico", linguaggio che permette il confronto su argomenti magici senza barriere linguistiche.
E' una figura molto importante anche nella Convention di Escorial.
Tamariz è anche autore di cinque best-sellers: ""The Five Points of Magic"," "Verbal Magic;" "The Magic Way," "Sonata" e "Mnemonica."
Oggi Juan Tamariz è riconosciuto a livello internazionale tra i maghi più importanti, un vero maestro della sua arte, che condivide generosamente il suo tempo e le preziose conoscenze, scrivendo e di persona, con tutta la comunità magica.

L'arte della magia è nel DNA di Tamariz; il suo pro zio, Marchese D.Luis Negron, aveva una certa popolarità come illusionista in Andalusia, Spagna, verso l'inizio del 20esimo secolo.

Juan Tamariz was born in Seville, Spain on October 18, 1942.
Tamariz developed a passion for magic at the tender age of 4 after his parents took him to the theater to see a magician perform.
Growing up, he saw many great magicians entertaining in the theatre in Spain, including internationally known illusionist David Bamberg, aka Fu Manchu.
At the age of twelve, Tamariz started learning magic from books, and befriended many magicians from the "Spanish Society of Illusionism" organization.
Young Tamariz had many magical mentors Including Arturo de Ascanio, a gifted amateur magician who designed and created a number of magical effects.
Tamariz experimented in arts related to magic: acting as a clown, pupeteer, and he even had a brief spell with a circus.
At 18 years old, he enrolled at a local university where he studied filmmaking. He later applied his knowledge of film and directing in his presentation of magic.
He landed a job working in advertising and Producing commercials. He discovered that some of the techniques he used in making commercials were actually used when he performed magic such as misdirection, and particularly the psychology of perception. However, he wasn't particularly fond of using these techniques to sell products, so he quit in 1970 to focus solely on the art of magic. Tamariz, who led an impoverished life at the time, could not afford large stage illusions, so he turned to the art of close-up conjuring - primarily in the field of card magic.
In the mid-1970s, he was invited to perform in Buenos Aires where he performed on television. His act was a huge hit, which led to subsequent guest performances on TV, in Spain and South America.
Tamariz performed at FISM in 2006, and along with Arturo de Ascanio, he has spearheaded the "Escuela Magica de Madrid," a school of thought in close-up magic that has produced FISM award-winning champions and deeply influenced the craft of magic worldwide.
He has also created a system called "Methodo Symbolico," for discussing magic across language barriers, and is an important figure in the Escorial convention.
Tamariz is the author of five critically acclaimed best-selling books in English: "The Five Points of Magic," "Verbal Magic;" "The Magic Way," "Sonata" and "Mnemonica." Juan Tamariz is known internationally among magicians as a true master of his art, and one who generously shares his time and knowledge, both in print and in person, with the magic community.
